This fall will mark the beginning of new healthcare internship opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities (I/DD) in Middlesex County. MARC Community Resources will be launching its latest employment partnership program, Project SEARCH, in collaboration with Middlesex Health.

Project SEARCH is a unique, business-led, one-year employment preparation program that takes place entirely at the workplace, culminating in individualized job development for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

“We are so grateful to Middlesex Health for partnering with us and Project SEARCH,” says Melissa Davison-Wood, President and CEO of MARC. “We are excited to offer individuals with I/DD throughout Middlesex County an opportunity for real-life work experiences that will lead to a successful and productive life ahead.”

The Project SEARCH model involves extensive skills training and career exploration, innovative adaptations, long-term job coaching, and continuous feedback from teachers, skills trainers, and employers.

“At MARC, we focus on providing people with I/DD the latest tools and experiences that lead to a fulfilling life, especially when it comes to employment,” states Davison-Wood. “We’re happy to share our mission with Middlesex Health and the vision of a more inclusive and accessible community for all.”
